Sahar joon (Sahar, honey)

[Translated from Persian]

So!

I have to go to Brazil in a few weeks for work to attend a typography conference. Even with a Canadian passport I need a visa. I don’t have time to apply in the US, so I emailed the Embassy in Tehran and a lady called Sahar replied and told me that I could apply here in Iran.

But preparing the documents and going there was really on my nerves. Baharak kindly took care of everything, but I was really stressed and worried that they may change their word and it wouldn’t happen and my plans for the next two months would fall apart.

Last night I was awake until 7:20 with excitement. I woke up like a zombie at 8:40 and revived myself with a shower, headache pills and Red Bull. Baharak came with me to take photos and go to the Embassy. The Embassy turned out to be one of those fancy houses in Zafaraniyeh (Northern Tehran). There was only the consul and a honey called "Sahar-joon" (literally, "Dear Sahar")!

To sum it up Sahar joon took the documents and told me that it would be alright and not to worry and that she would call Baharak joon to go pick it up when ready and how cute is your bag and where did you buy it, and blah blah blah.

I think if there wasn’t a glass between us, we would probably hug and kiss and take mean selfies as well. Maybe next time when we go back to pick up the visa, unless I’m in the North… Honestly if I knew this is how it would be, I’d have grinned from ear to ear in my visa photo!

Taking care of this fully charged my batteries, I am ahead of my schedule today, so I decided to stop by Cafe Bazaar offices.

After that I’ll meet Shahab and friends for lunch at Asiatech. I’m curious to know whether Asiatech would surprise me as much as Cafe Bazaar did or not!

Anyway, stay tuned!

Later...

Introducing "Sahar joon".

"VALID FOR 05 YEARS AFTER DATE OF ISSUE"
(The visa, thanks for asking!)
